Drought Center<p>Drought conditions have been worsening in the Southern Plains. Oklahoma has been experiencing wildfires, with four people killed and at least 200 injured this week. Some wildfires are also burning in adjacent areas of southern Kansas and the northern Texas Panhandle. Drought Center<p>Severe drought expanded in southern California over the past week, as the destructive wildfires in Los Angeles continue. <br> <br>The Los Angeles area has seen very dry conditions since the beginning of the water year (Oct. 1, 2024). Water-year-to-date (WYTD) averages are less than 5% of normal, and many cities in the area are seeing their driest start to the WYTD.
