Drought Center<p>After a dry past few weeks, abnormal dryness and drought continue to spread across the Northeast, now covering 93.65% of the region. Extreme drought conditions emerged in southern New Jersey this week. </p><p>The dryness and drought have contributed to wildfires in New Jersey, Connecticut and New York. Drought Center<p>Drought expanded in West Virginia and extreme drought was introduced to eastern portions of the state after a week of below-normal precipitation and above-normal temperatures. Abnormal dryness or drought now covers 99.49% of the state. Drought Center<p>Degradations occurred in much of North Carolina, the Virginias, Ohio and Indiana, with scattered areas in the Northeast. The biggest area of improvement was in the Florida peninsula.
