CottaFirst off, this toot was written as a reply to a now deleted toot, since I still want to share my opinion I've somewhat reworked it.There is currently a lot of FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt)and knee jerking doing the rounds after the announcement by Mozilla of the introduction of a Terms of Service for Firefox.Do I think the current Firefox drama is blown out of proportion? Absolutely! We currently don't know what Mozilla's plans are and it would not be the first time they handled something quite clumsily. However I would like to add that people are right to be concerned due to a number of reasons, such as Mozilla making a number of lets just say less then ideal choices in recent history (and yes some of that has been blown out of proportion as well). Given that other well known companies in the software/internet market have been caught red handed time and time again doing unethical and and downright illegal things I understand people having knee jerk and FUD reactions to this.Personally I'm uneasy about the ToS but I don't think Firefox is bad now and Mozilla is now evil... But depending on what they do moving forward they may or may-not end up getting put on my naughty list. As for Mozilla saying that they don't plan on doing anything bad, I certainly hope so and I hope Mozilla will update their ToS to be less vague and broad reaching. Now, to be clear I've not read the new ToS myself from the Mozilla site itself (I currently just don't have the spoons for it) so take my post with a grain of salt.I will be honest I am getting tempted to switch to a different browser but this is not so much due to the ToS itself as it is that the ToS is yet another small annoyance in a relatively long list, in other words, the ToS is the straw that broke the camels back.I will be taking a wait and see approach to see where this will end up going and I certainly hope Mozilla notices that a good portion of their users are uneasy to losing their damn minds about this (rightfully or not) and will step in to remedy the current situation. Although to be fully honest, given the mediocre track record of Mozilla I expect them to handle this in a less then ideal manner.It's a real shame Mozilla does not have better leadership/management I.M.O. since I WANT them to succeed and do better.
