Tuta<p>🚨 Let's break up the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Google" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Google</span></a> monopoly</p><p>Now is the time to choose a <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/private" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>private</span></a> browser because Google must sell <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Chrome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Chrome</span></a> 🥳</p><p>👉 Check the story: <a href="https://tuta.com/blog/google-must-sell-chrome-in-antitrust-case" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">tuta.com/blog/google-must-sell</span><span class="invisible">-chrome-in-antitrust-case</span></a></p>
James Scholes<p>Today I learned: If you use <a href="https://dragonscave.space/tags/Chrome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Chrome</span></a> and are annoyed by those "Sign in with Google" dialogs stealing keyboard focus on certain websites, you can disable it at the browser level.</p><p>In the address bar, type or paste in "chrome://settings/content/federatedIdentityApi" (without the quotes. You should land on the "Third-party sign-in" Settings page.</p><p>On that page, there'll be two radio buttons: "Sites can show sign-in prompts from identity services", and "Block sign-in prompts from identity services". Set it to the second one, and you should find that the problematic dialogs are no longer present.</p><p><a href="https://dragonscave.space/tags/accessibility" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>accessibility</span></a> <a href="https://dragonscave.space/tags/screenReader" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>screenReader</span></a></p>
RealZero<p>I finally tested it successfully:</p><p>"Substital" is an add-on for Firefox and Chrome that allows you to display captions / subtitles in nearly any video that you can see on a website, either by searching for it on OpenSubtitles or by loading a caption file from your device locally.</p><p>This way you can, for example, watch an old show's episode on archive.org and add a local SRT file so the video gets captions.</p><p><a href="https://substital.com/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">substital.com/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Accessibility" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Accessibility</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Captions" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Captions</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Subtitles" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Subtitles</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Firefox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Firefox</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Chrome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Chrome</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Substital" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Substital</span></a></p>
