vga256<p>awesome: Beastie/Leon McNeill just open sourced their Ultima III colour Macintosh port, all written in Think C!</p><p>This is the "Lairware" version that was sold at lairware.com, and received many updates over the years - eventually gaining OS X/Intel 32-bit support. The source appears to be an Xcode project with a mix of think C and cocoa.</p><p>great job, Leon!</p><p><a href="https://github.com/beastie/ultima3" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">github.com/beastie/ultima3</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://dialup.cafe/tags/openSource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>openSource</span></a> <a href="https://dialup.cafe/tags/foss" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>foss</span></a> <a href="https://dialup.cafe/tags/macintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>macintosh</span></a> <a href="https://dialup.cafe/tags/vintageApple" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vintageApple</span></a> <a href="https://dialup.cafe/tags/retrogaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrogaming</span></a></p>

vga256<p>spent the morning cleaning out the laundry/server room so my little globaltalk node can ride again!</p><p>this is a Macintosh LC475 running System 7.1 and Apple Internet Router. vga256<p>There appears to be a tiny bit of bulge to the battery pack, but nothing of major concern. this will be a candidate for a new battery repack for sure. vga256<p>the lcd indeed looks to need rework. the backlight works, but i can see only some corrupted frozen images on it. </p><p>i can hear the scsi hdd chittering away, and i can see that someone installed the internal modem upgrade! i’m genuinely surprised at how nice the keyboard and trackball are. in all, $75CAD/$50USD was not bad!</p><p>i am very much looking forward to turning it into my marchintosh project #2. </p><p>this is my first 68k macintosh notebook ever!</p><p><a href="https://dialup.cafe/tags/vintageApple" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vintageApple</span></a> <a href="https://dialup.cafe/tags/marchintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>marchintosh</span></a></p>
vga256<p>Powerbook 160 owners: any strong opinions on logic board and/or display repair? someone local is selling one for a not-terrible price, and i'm tempted. might make a fun globaltalk machine.</p><p>it bongs, but sits at a white/grey screen forever. i assume there is something wrong with the display assembly - either failed caps, a bad driver, or bad ribbon cable.</p><p>having never worked on one, i'm not super eager to pick it up unless i'm sure it's fixable. i've read quite a few different PB160 guides, but the list of problems with caps/ribbons are endless.</p><p><a href="https://dialup.cafe/tags/vintageApple" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vintageApple</span></a> <a href="https://dialup.cafe/tags/marchintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>marchintosh</span></a></p>
