Chelsea Thompto<p>Currently making View Master discs for a show in San Francisco. Made using transparency film and laser cut recycled paper, the work will be displayed on this vintage (1950s) View Master.</p><p>This work is about fog and trans visibility and is part of a larger body of work on the same subject.</p><p>Thinking about the potential of low/no power display technologies of the past and what their formal qualities (in this case 7 stereographic images in intimate proximity of the body) might offer.</p><p><a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/oldnewmedia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>oldnewmedia</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/newmedia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>newmedia</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/creativetechnologies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>creativetechnologies</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/viewmaster" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>viewmaster</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/nopower" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nopower</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/lowtech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lowtech</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/trans" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>trans</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/transartist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>transartist</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/newmediaart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>newmediaart</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/contemporaryart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>contemporaryart</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/stereogram" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>stereogram</span></a></p>

Martin Rundkvist<p>I just binge-watched three <a href="https://archaeo.social/tags/ViewMaster" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ViewMaster</span></a> discs with pics from Denmark c. 1960. That's 21 stereo photos in one session.</p>
Matthew Reinbold<p>Wife has been thrifting again.</p><p>I had thought that most of the content was animated cartoons or kids' fare, but there was a surprising number of 70s sci-fi movie discs. It is neat how this nearly 100-year-old technology still does 3D so incredibly well.</p><p>How could you mimic that effect in the browser? A quick animated gif strobing between the left and right images? Would that work?</p><p><a href="https://opinuendo.com/tags/toys" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>toys</span></a> <a href="https://opinuendo.com/tags/viewMaster" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>viewMaster</span></a> <a href="https://opinuendo.com/tags/3D" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>3D</span></a> <a href="https://opinuendo.com/tags/scifi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>scifi</span></a> <a href="https://opinuendo.com/tags/retro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retro</span></a></p>
