Amtrak, also known as the National Railroad Passenger Corporation, is the national passenger #rail service for the #US. It is nationally chartered, meaning the federal government is the majority stockholder. It also means Amtrak board members are nominated by the president & confirmed by the Senate.

@livingshredder I think the crucial favtor is #ViolenceCulture & #Investigations.

In the #UK, basically every "firearm discharge" that actually makes it on file most likely gets escalated to the NCA and the average police officer doesn't get a gun.

Whereas the #USA has extreme violence culture.

And yes, I saw #US citizens decompress amidst the safety in #Germany because they ain't constantly looking at everyone expecting someone to commit "advanced [armed] suicide"...

The problem isn't the availability of guns (ask people in Northern Ireland) but the fact that said violence is frowned upon and prosecuted, not rewarded with airtime on live television [www.youtube.com]!

That being said, we should more import the "unarmed cop" approach as in #Ireland because untrained and unqualified personnel are more of a risk than benefit towards #PublicSafety...

The space #science researcher allegedly underwent a *random* check on arrival, during which his work #computer & personal #phone were searched.…Messages referring to the treatment of scientists by the #Trump admin were found.
