Edward Philips<p>Morning all. I've created a one-off, one-only poster to celebrate the recently reported UK General Election. So there. xx</p><p><a href="https://toot.community/tags/art" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>art</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/politics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>politics</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/UKElection" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UKElection</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/wallart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wallart</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/poster" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>poster</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/handmade" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>handmade</span></a></p>
Girl on the Net<p>Alongside the Tory Party getting pulped, the "Party of Women" received such a sad-trombone-fart-noise response at the ballot box that I couldn't help but allow myself a little moment to wallow in their humiliation. </p><p>There's also bad news though, in the form of alarming transphobia coming from our new Labour government... </p><p><a href="https://www.girlonthenet.com/blog/party-of-women/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">girlonthenet.com/blog/party-of</span><span class="invisible">-women/</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/PartyOfWomen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PartyOfWomen</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Transphobia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Transphobia</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/UKElection" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UKElection</span></a></p>

Jonathan Schofield<p>In 2019, Labour under Jeremy Corbyn secured 10,292,354 votes. </p><p>In 2024, following a lying and disgraced Johnson, a trash-everything Truss, and a Sunakered UK, Labour under Starmer have secured 9,698,409 votes… with just 1 seat left to declare. </p><p>A historic fk up is what it is </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ukElection" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ukElection</span></a></p>
Adam Jacobs 🇺🇦<p>I think we should all heartily congratulate Starmer for completely turning the Labour Party around and making it something people want to vote for.</p><p>Remember, at the 2019 GE, Corbyn's Labour only got 10.3 million votes, which was obviously a crushing defeat and shows that nobody wanted them.</p><p>But yesterday, Starmer's Labour got as many as (*checks notes*) 9.7 million votes, which shows that the party is now obviously far more popular.</p><p><a href="https://mas.to/tags/FPTP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FPTP</span></a> is weird, isn't it?</p><p><a href="https://mas.to/tags/GE2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GE2024</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/UKElection" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UKElection</span></a></p>
Snail<p>At the moment Labour have one MP for every 25,000 voters.</p><p>The green party have one MP for every 475000 voters.</p><p>Labour voters have 19 times the representation of Greens per voter.</p><p>This is why we need Proportional Representation.</p><p>(Yes, I know that means Reform would have far more seats too, that's a different problem to solve)</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.crmbl.uk/tags/ukelection" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ukelection</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.crmbl.uk/tags/ge2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ge2024</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.crmbl.uk/tags/pr" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pr</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.crmbl.uk/tags/proportionalRepresentation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>proportionalRepresentation</span></a></p>
Jaelyn 🏳️‍🌈<p>A few <a href="https://lgbtqia.space/tags/UKElection" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UKElection</span></a> notes;</p><p>The Greens got all 3 of their targets and defended Brighton which last I heard was predicted to fall to Labour. This is a big surge that will not get any attention from the media as always (the Greens aren't the rage bait for viewers that Reform are).</p><p>Corbyn kept his seat!</p><p>I'm glad that the transphobe party came last in my consitutency, and they won fewer votes nationwide than the Monster Raving Loony Party.</p><p>Looks like the SNP's golden age as truely come to an end. I wonder if this will be reflected in the next Scottish election or if people feel they have made their protest and will rally around them again next time?</p><p>Let's start a timer on how long it takes for a Reform MP to get kicked out over inappropirate remarks.</p><p>Plaid are also up to 4 seats. Yet again, they won't get any attention for that while we have Farage 24/7 on our screens.</p><p>Speaking of, did Northern Ireland vote? As always let's ignore that they exist provided they're not causing any trouble.</p><p>Rees-Mogg is one of the Tories who lost his seat, so he can now go back to the 1700s to check on his transatlantic shipping business. </p><p>The only thing missing from Liz Truss' defeat is a cabbage running against her. Will we hear the last of her or will she try to take over some other country and tank it in 5 seconds?</p><p>Unfortunately Kemi and Suella are still around so one of them will likely wind up as leader and continue being toxic on TV.</p><p>Now the big question is will Labour continue pandering to the right for no real reason, or will they get on with the important stuff?</p><p><a href="https://lgbtqia.space/tags/GE2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GE2024</span></a></p>

Dr Pen<p>Its very much worth saying - and for other nations to watch - that the UK political transition is peaceful and orderly. No trouble or violence, no mass demos on the day of election, no police at most polling stations, just ordinary people going to vote. Humour is often a gentle weapon in the UK, sometimes used to merciless effect. </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ukelection" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ukelection</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ukelection2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ukelection2024</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/uk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>uk</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/politics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>politics</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ukpolitics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ukpolitics</span></a> </p><p>Img: Rees Mogg, who lost his seat, with another constituency candidate, from the Monster Raving Loony Party</p>
