dandelionSandhill Cranes roosting in the shallows of the Platte River. They are early risers - these pictures are the best my camera could do well before sunrise at a distance of almost half a mile. They completely misrepresent the scale of the gathering though - tens of thousands of cranes were roosting within a mile or two.
