In light of the news I figured it was time to dig out the old #Pebble.
Still works a treat - though getting the app installed on my Pixel 9 Pro was a bit of a faff.
Also, a #SheridanTheCorgi cameo.

Coincidentally, four days ago, #PebbleWatch step counts stopped syncing to Google Fit (simultaneously on both my watch and my spouse's). I assume this is due to a back-end change, related to Google Fit reaching EOL... but I haven't seen anyone discussing it yet, on Reddit, etc. My spouse is participating in some "Step Bets" and is distressed about it! (Me, I hadn't even realized step counts were still syncing until I checked.) I'd love to know a workaround if there are any.
I am gobsmacked by the unexpected good news just shared by @rebble: Google released the #PebbleOS code as #FreeSoftware (Apache license), #Rebble obtained the source code for Snowy, #EricMigicovsky is planning to produce a new #PebbleWatch, and the Rebble team is planning another #Hackathon. Just wow. Thank you, @ishotjr, @Katharine (and all others not easily reachable via the fediverse).
@arstechnica I never cared about E2EE between Android & iOS text messages, and my iPhone-wielding contacts don't seem to mind that I'm in a green bubble, but I have to say, this line "Beeper Mini supports group chats, high-resolution images and video and voice messages" suddenly makes me realize that I'm part of the target market after all. So I could actually tell what's in that blocky postage-stamp downsampled video that my mom sent me? Hmmm....
Plus, I'm glad to see Eric Migicovksy is still "in the game", tilting at windmills. *gives the old #pebblewatch a shake* -- still working...
