Eugene Alvin Villar 🇵🇭<a href="https://en.osm.town/@cbed" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@cbed</a> at least for my country, maybe 99% of <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OvertureMaps" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#OvertureMaps</a> POIs are from Facebook. Practically every organization and company here would set up a Facebook page in lieu of an actual website. And based on my past unscientific assessment of Overture’s data, I don’t think majority are accurately placed on the map. But the other types of data (like opening hours, telephone, email, etc.) I think are good enough.

Thibaultmol 🌈Interesting bit of <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OpenStreetMap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#OpenStreetMap</a> <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OvertureMaps" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#OvertureMaps</a> related news: Niantic, the company behind <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/PokemonGO" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#PokemonGO</a> and <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/Ingress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Ingress</a> have joined the overture maps foundation.I don't mind them joining Overture... but it is kinda weird to me that they're not nor have they ever been corporate member of the OSMF... which is like.... Eugene Alvin Villar 🇵🇭I very much agree with <a href="https://en.osm.town/@simon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@simon</a>’s observation: <a href="https://fosstodon.org/@developmentseed" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@developmentseed</a> uses a lot of <a href="https://en.osm.town/@openstreetmap" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@openstreetmap</a> data in their projects (heck, their profile states “winning with open data” and their offshoot company <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/Mapbox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Mapbox</a> was built on OSM), but <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/DevelopmentSeed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#DevelopmentSeed</a> chose to become a Contributor Member of <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OvertureMaps" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#OvertureMaps</a> but notably is *not* a corporate member of the <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/OpenStreetMap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#OpenStreetMap</a> Foundation.I am kinda tired of companies taking OSM for granted.
