MDMRN<p>Re-Read - Your Lie in April, Volume 1</p><p>For the past five years now, I have read Your Lie in April annually beginning at the start of April. This marks my sixth readthrough of the entire series.</p><p>Last night (and into this morning), I read Volume 1. The early chapters set the tone very well. It hits you emotionally in a way, for me, few other manga does. MDMRN<p>Through Volume 1, it's implied they have a mutual crush. Kind of. She's 24. He's 45. </p><p>I...I dunno. That feels weird. Too weird, to me. Too much of an age gap. </p><p>Also, his weird obsession with her when she's in cashier mode creeps me out. He specifically goes only to her aisle for check out even if the line is longer. That's explicitly said in the manga.</p><p>If a 45 year old dude kept doing that to a 24 year old woman IRL, how weird would that be?</p><p>Anyway, dropping after Volume 1. MDMRN<p>New Read - Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You, Volume 1</p><p>So, a lot of folks online have been reading this, apparently, so I saw Volume 1 at the library and picked it up. Also, a lot of folks I had followed on Insta (when I was there) gushed over this.</p><p>Premise: 45 year old business dude is kind of obsessed with a younger woman who checks him out at the grocery store. Another woman who works there (same woman, different hair style) asks to smoke with him. They chat outside while smoking together. MDMRN<p>New Read - Animal Crossing: New Horizons Deserted Island Diary</p><p>Another volume of Animal Crossing's on-going silly manga set in the New Horizons game. It's very silly, very fun, very full of in-jokes for folks who play the game.</p><p>Each chapter is a silly self-contained story. My favorite is the one where everyone decides to honor Tom Nook with gifts for all the good he's done for the island. They terraform to make an entire section of the island look like him. I had been waiting for this for a while, but finally got around to reading it. Volume 6 of the amazingly wild Rooster Fighter.<br>
<br>
This volume showed Keiji and his half-brother, Keisuke, fight some devils. Yup, devils - we've got some leveled up demons on our hands this volume! And these foes are ruthless.<br>
<br>
Keiji seems down and out after a while, but never surrenders, never gives up, which gives Keisuke such inspiration that he levels up and goes Super Saiyan...I mean, unlocks more potential from his gizzard.<br>
<br>
This volume is wild with well crafted fight scenes that keep you turning the page rapidly and ready for more. I loved it. <br>
<br>
But, I love the ridiculous concept of regular sized roosters fighting giant monsters.<br>
<br>

The first few chapters are very monster of the week, which is fun, albeit a bit fat-shamey in the very first chapter. But, the story ramps up a bit more as you get closer to the end of the volume.<br>
<br>
Minako begins to remember her previous lives as Sailor Venus. She begins to remember that she is just one of many Sailor Scouts who are tasked with protecting the kingdom and the Queen. These moments are great as she slowly uncovers the truth in the back of her mind about who she really is and who she had been in the past.<br>
<br>
That said, much like Volume 1, there's also a lot of campy fun with Sailor Venus stopping villains of the week from the Dark Agency as well as her romantic interest in Saijyo Ace. However, her romantic interest takes a dark turn as she discovers Ace's true nature and how he too is reincarnated from another previous life.<br>
<br>
It all ties back together and ends on a more serious note which brings us into the beginning of the mainline Sailor Moon franchise. <br>
<br>
It's a great ending to a fun series. <br>
<br>
All that said, the pages I decided to take pictures of are just ridiculous and I'd apologize, but I ain't sorry.<br>
<br>
Can't wait to get back to reading more of the mainline Sailor Moon manga.<br>

Volume 8 continued where Volume 7 left off, finishing up the story of the Dead Moon.<br>
<br>
It continues with Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask being very sick while the other Sailor Scouts are fighting against the Dead Moon Kingdom. Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask try to come out anyway, and they discover some new powers within Mamoru himself! Also, our Pegasus friend is freed.<br>
<br>
A lot happens as we conclude this chapter filled with nightmares consuming the planet. See the third pic for one of Sailor Moon's personal nightmares, and one that will haunt me forever.<br>
<br>
The last handful of chapters of this volume are more Sailor Moon side stories telling tales about individual Sailor Scouts, their background, and a quick hit self contained story. They were cute, but I am looking forward to the next volume as we proceed the plot forward overall.<br>
<br>
Personally, I have really been enjoying the mainline plot a lot more than the seemingly filler side stories. There have been a few good ones, but overall the mainline plot following all of the Sailor Scouts has been my absolute favorite part of reading this. Can't wait for more when Volume 9 of this edition drops.<br>

The single volume series follows Donald and his buddies José Carioca and Panchito from the classic cartoon <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/TheThreeCaballeros?src=hash" title="#TheThreeCaballeros" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TheThreeCaballeros</a> work for Duck Furnishings in the US. Being that it is this trio, they're always getting into trouble. So, their boss sends the three of them to Japan to become better employees by forcing them to work at a traditional, and very strict, Onsen in Japan. <br>
<br>
Basically, it's a goofy story about Donald and friends becoming good at helping / serving others while working at an Onsen. That's it.<br>
<br>
I have read this a few times and so have a few of my kids. It's silly, it's relaxing, and I tend to bring it with me on vacations if I'm looking for something quick to read at the beach.<br>

That's the question that the late Hiroto Wada answered in the manga series "Stitch and the Samurai" (Tono-sama to Stitch).<br>

The art is so very well done and feels like a historical manga. Then enter Stitch, who is drawn exactly like he looks in the movie. The juxtaposition of serious looking historical manga art with the goofiness of Stitch is jarring and hilarious. Also, our titular Lord / Samurai becoming so head over heels obsessed with Stitch is something else.<br>

TokyoPop consolidated all three volumes of it into a single, physical release omnibus, which is a great way to read it. I already read it and reviewed it digitally for <a class="u-url" href="https://pixelfed.social/@beneaththetangles@sakurajima.moe" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@beneaththetangles@sakurajima.moe</a> a while back, but it was fun to re-read it again.<br>

From Halloween until Christmas is, officially, The Nightmare Before Christmas Season! So, let's talk abut the official manga adaptation.<br>
<br>
Do you already like the movie a lot and are super familiar with the plot? If so, this is a welcome addition to any collection you may have for that series. If you are not, watch the movie first. While the art is great and fitting for the series, the pacing is okay but moves a bit too quick through certain plot points that without some baseline familiarity with the material a person may get lost.<br>
<br>
That said, I've seen the movie likely a hundred times at this point in my life. So, I enjoyed it!<br>
