#GlobalTalk chat 0.9 is out on BaroNet:Blackbird now!

I would number it 1.0 from a features/UI point of view but I want more people to test it and find the rough edges before I do that.

Last year I gave up on developing it further due to the horrible lag/freezes caused by the built-in networking support in HyperCard I was using, but with the new XCMD networking I’m feeling more confident so I’ve finished polishing it up!

Will soon disable support for 0.2 clients on the server.

::snort, shudder:: Oh shoot! I was dreaming of pots and rainbows – I looked in one, it was a Finder folder with greets in it! I woke with a start at my #WOzFest HQ #GlobalTalk Print Shop desk, realised I hadn’t checked the DropBox since yesterday, andI woke what elves I could – they report two items in our DropBox…

First, an application from @ahihi! And a very pretty and mesmerising one – I almost dozed back to sleep! Thank you!

And remember, trans rights are human rights!

This year for #MARCHintosh I upgraded my printing setup with a color ribbon for my ImageWriter II.

This is a test print I made from GraphicConverter 3.0 to try out the MacPalette II ImageWriter II driver and I think it turned out pretty well! Printing speed is a bit slow, but the results are impressive for 1985 printer technology!

Also, the Mac OS 8 platinum theme 😍

MDN is now being delivered automatically to the MARCHintosh Daily News folder in the WOzFest HQ Files share – thanks for your efforts on this, @dillera!*

At the moment it has a prefix in the name of “<jobnumber>-“ – I’m hoping to stop that (currently removing manually), but it’s pretty obvious which is that latest issue.

Feel free to grab a copy of the latest issue, I won’t keep announcing daily, but will post occasional reminders!

*thanks for the DTP shoutout, too!

The technical reason for this is probably related to RFC 1035 (Nov 1987) and RFC 1123 (Oct 1989), which define rules for domain names. The first one required domains to start with a letter, while the amended rules in 1989 allowed them to start with a number. Unfortunately it is still up to the software vendors to include those new rules. System 7.1 likely doesn't include RFC 1123. I knew that RealPlayer 3 didn't support it, but not System 7.1 / MacTCP 1.1.1. #globaltalk #marchintosh
