Total Sonic Media<p>This is some bs. If AOSP development is made less publicly accessible it does NOT " simplify things for developers" but rather it hinders it for de-googled privacy respecting ROMs and their device ports. The need for continued and ramped up efforts developing alternative mobile OS's, like Ubuntu Touch, Sailfish OS, Droidian, Mobian, Postmarket, etc. is even more apparent with this move by Google. <br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/linuxmobile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linuxmobile</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/degoogled" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>degoogled</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/android" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>android</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/aosp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>aosp</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ubuntutouch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ubuntutouch</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/sailfishos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sailfishos</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mobian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mobian</span></a></p><p><a href="https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/03/google-makes-android-development-private-will-continue-open-source-releases/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/0</span><span class="invisible">3/google-makes-android-development-private-will-continue-open-source-releases/</span></a></p>

The stock <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/OnePlus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OnePlus</span></a> 6/6T camera app on Android doesn't scan codes at all. This was a big lacking area in <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/LinuxMobile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LinuxMobile</span></a> as QR codes are everywhere and everyone expects you to be able to scan them but <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/postmarketOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>postmarketOS</span></a> was unable to do so until the recent camera bringup, at least for the OnePlus 6T.</p>
Jeff Fortin T.<p>I'd want Nautilus (and thus the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/GNOME" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GNOME</span></a> file picker UI) to stop trying to search multiple times per second while I am not nearly done typing the search query, as I consider that to be extremely wasteful, conceptually.
