Garrett Latimer<p>My department dried up and blew away over the past few months and I was the last one to be handed his walking papers. This wasn't really a surprise, just like with the forensics job. I had something sugary, I'll get on the treadmill in a bit, and call the parental units after dinner. <a href="https://meow.social/tags/layoff" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>layoff</span></a></p><p>I have 75% of a paycheck and a week of PTO coming in next week, and most of a month's pay in severance, plus I'm eligible for unemployment. This is *inconvenient* but getting a paycheck again is going to be a matter of when. Could be six weeks, could be nine months. Could be something in between.</p><p>This won't disrupt scheduled conventions (GOTF, FE, MCFC, AO, AC), computer replacement, and one of the toy projects, those are already paid for. It does means I'll trying to find homes for a few things after conventions and that the ambitious build plans for this year will be limited.</p><p>Switch 2? For morale purposes.<br>Friend Visits? Also for morale purposes.<br>MFF 2025? Unlikely in the first place, depends on timely reemployment.<br>Mortgage Quest? Should have work again by house season.<br>The world burning down outside my window? I'll do what I can.</p>
