Fedora Linux 42 Beta and Fedora Asahi Remix 42 Beta released https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2025/03/fedora-linux-42-beta-and-fedora-asahi-remix-42-beta-released/
"How do I save my current KDE settings and configuration?"
#KDE Developer: "Just back up .config and .local/share. [...] I don’t really see the point of only saving settings for KDE software. Why not just back up everything?"
Yeah, okay, no problem. Just backup literally everything. It's not like huge stuff like Steam also live in there, and many tools aren't properly using .local/state or anything.
This is such phenomenally bad advice.

Fedora is a community-driven project sponsored by Red Hat.
By writing news like "Red Hat presented Fedora KDE Edition" you do not just misrepresent the Fedora Project, you also undermine the effort of Fedora community members who did all the work to make KDE Spin into an Edition.
Please do recognize and give a credit to the community.
And if you have questions about Fedora governance, we are here - at discussion.fedoraproject.org, at release parties, on social networks, just ask
Anyone of y'all out there use #KDE NeoChat?
I'm trying to join some KDE Matrix rooms. And I'm trying to make my Matrix account actually resemble me.
It won't change my profile picture. D:
The new Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop Edition webpage, I made is online. Currently only the beta is released but the final release is afaik planned mid April.

Alright. I've been leading y'all on for too long hehe. Since it's less than 24 hours away....
Those two emails I got that lit up my eyes and warmed my heart?
This Ritchie's tryin' for a job at the #KDE e.V as a programmer - and I'm meeting with 'em tomorrow. :)
KDE is the best desktop solution usability-wise, by far. This is true with the basic functionality, this is true with the advanced features.
Does it have bugs and shortcomings? Sure, but it's so much better than, let's say, Windows or Mac, it's just crazy.
A simple example I used just now - block select in Konsole. It was added many years ago, and I've been using it every now and then since that dat.
*sigh* By now I got two zombie-entries in my #KDE start menu that I can't get rid off or edit. Also my Icon-Only Task Manager bar is utterly incapable of memorizing where I put which starter, it keeps shuffling them around between reboots and even when switching activities (and then switching back to the same profile).
Since even widget placement and *existence* is rather flaky it seems to me that KDE is screwing up some part of caching or its db where it saves desktop infos. This sucks. #Linux
And another train ticket check successfully passed with #KDE Itinerary. I love this app

#KDE plasma 6.4 is getting a file transfer progress graph [blogs.kde.org]!
they're still working on the appearance [invent.kde.org], but it's gonna be great when this feature lands
In #KDE, can I somehow configure the way its built-in tiling of windows is working (when you push a window towards a screen corner)?
I put one of my screens in pivot and would like for windows not to be split 50% horizontally but 50% vertically.
The only option I can find for tiling is "(Yes / No) Windows dragged to the left or right edge", which is for 25% tiling.
