"The Towers of Language." Digital painting made in 2022 when I experimented with finding the motives in randomly layered images found on the internet... A technique which somehow comically is similar to, or maybe more to the point, the reverse of generic AI.

I am producing and directing an animated series called "Lunatics!" about the first permanent settlers on the Moon, which attempts to be as realistic about this as possible, drawing on present-day technology, and much of the organizational culture around it.

It's a *free-culture* project: CC By-SA 4.0 licensed for episodes and most behind-the-scenes content. And an open movie project in that source files from Blender, Kdenlive, etc will be released with episodes. For this to be truly meaningful, we also rely on *free/open-source* software to produce it.

Working render of the space station for what is now episode 2, showing solar panels, large inflatable modules, and a rotating gravity centrifuge module on the "industrial park" end of the station. This was from before I decided to break the pilot up into 3 episodes. A lot of the mech models for episode 2 & 3 are finished or near-finished, because of this.

End of the match-move part of the exterior shot. At this point, the interior is clearly not contributing anything.

We can see down the length of the train and the terrain outside.

Since Blender's current frame is still at the beginning of the shot, the window in the upper right shows the first frame, with the marker cube showing Hiromi's location (but this is the exterior model, so there's no train interior or characters).

Thanks to the incredible developers at both audible-cli (https://github.com/mkb79/audible-cli/) and the amazing ffmpeg team, I can recover the books I bought at Audible, before I learned about LibroFM.

That means I can download/liberate my DRM encumbered audiobooks and place them in Audiobookshelf (an amazing program that @peribotsarah introduced me to). It's a bit of a slow process, but at least I have them.

Now I only download books from Libro.fm, which is a DRM-free audiobook online bookstore, but there are sometimes books that aren't available from there, leaving me with a very uncomfortable choice, either buying a DRM-encumbered book and supporting DRM, or not buying the book at all, which deprives me of the enjoyment.

Free Software/Free Culture folks, what do you do in this situation?
