MicheleV_AK<p>This is Mt. Spurr; it's a volcano and has been quite active for several weeks. The Alaska Volcano Observatory says there is a very good chance it will erupt, which hasn't happened since 1992, I think. We live very close to Mt. Spurr. I very much do NOT want it to erupt!! 😞 <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Alaska" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Alaska</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/MtSpurrVolcano" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MtSpurrVolcano</span></a></p>

JeffHey there folks. I’m an aurora guide in Fairbanks and am new to this app. I’d like to share some photos from this past winter. <br> <br> What we are looking at here is what’s known as a corona, or a breakup. This shot is looking straight up above me. These intense formations often last for only a minute or two but are absolutely beautiful to see. Huge amounts of energy is being converted to visual light, much like how a neon light works. <br> The different colors you see here are oxygen (green) and nitrogen (purple) as these solar particles crash into our atmosphere.<br> <br> If you have any questions about how to see Aurora, or anything else feel free to hit me up. Cheers!<br> <br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/auroraborealis?src=hash" title="#auroraborealis" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#auroraborealis</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/northernlights?src=hash" title="#northernlights" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#northernlights</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/astrophotography?src=hash" title="#astrophotography" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#astrophotography</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/aurora?src=hash" title="#aurora" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#aurora</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/sonyalpha?src=hash" title="#sonyalpha" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#sonyalpha</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/fairbanks?src=hash" title="#fairbanks" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#fairbanks</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/alaska?src=hash" title="#alaska" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#alaska</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/winterwonder?src=hash" title="#winterwonder" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#winterwonder</a>
