@felisrandomis
I also have a habit of looking angry or upset when I'm thinking hard which makes this situation much worse
@felisrandomis So when I was in my first year of uni I went to a feminist conference. I stood out a fair bit from the other attendees as literally the only "man" but I wanted to learn and take notes.
I was early waiting for the next sessions outside the doors to the seminar rooms and gazed out the window where there was a rather poorly designed roundabout. My mind went on a long tangent about how to improve the layout and accessibility of the crossings.
When I snapped out of it there were about 70 extra people around me and I had apparently been staring directly at a woman opposite me who had clearly moved into that spot since I zoned out to debate about traffic management with myself. She and her friend were staring right back at me as I was a bit of a perv gawping at her expressionless. Explaining that I was thinking about traffic intersections didn't seem to help the situation.
Not only that, but it turned out she was the next speaker for one of the sessions, an author of a #SexWork memoir that had been a bit fetishised by some... No doubt feeding into my new image as a perv.
Needless to say, I made sure to go into the other session. But fortune had it that other session (which had 1/20th the number of people in it) was led by a #trans woman sex worker who really opened my eyes on a lot of topics and... well it took me another 20 years but got there in the end. Partly thanks to my #ADHD stare making me look like a freak.
@felisrandomis ahahahaha this is why I have eye contact issues
@felisrandomis omg I did this in highschool and my natural brainless rest position was staring at this one girl in my class and she thought i was like crushing/stalking her and it was the most awkward office trip i had trying to explain that i'm not into this girl i just shut my brain off and i was like daydreaming and it happened to align that my empty brain dumbass face was lookin at her, NTs just don't get it smh
@felisrandomis It was very useful when I zone out at school, but was still looking at the teacher. :D
Wait, doesn’t everyone do this?
